Nokia 7 is official: 5.2 inch display, Full HD, Snapdragon 630
HMD Global, the company licenced to use Nokia branding on an Android phone has recently unveiled their latest offering carrying the once mighty Finnish brand. And so the Nokia 7 was finally introduced in China which is essentially an upper mid-range phone.
This device is mainly for those who want a flagship-level attention to detail but not necessarily priced as such. That said, it is the first glass rear design from the reinvigorated phone company in which 3D Corning Gorilla Glass is fitted on the back — a first for a Nokia Android phone.
Performance-wise, though it is not going to be a benchmark beater, it is not going to be a slouch either. Since pricing is not going to be in the flagship territory, a mid-tier Snapdragon 630 is unsurprisingly going to power the device. There are two variants of Nokia 7 — it comes with either 4GB and 6 GB RAM which could also be market dependent. In terms of storage, 64 GB should be acceptable for many but you can insert up to 256 GB SD card through its SIM 2 slot.
For the camera, a 16MP with f/1.8 aperture is going to be the main snapper while for selfies, you’ll get a 5 MP with f/2.0 shooter and a wide-angled lens. As with many camera phones these days, the Nokia 7 doesn’t come without a gimmick. The lousily named “bothie” camera is just a feature that lets you take both front and back pictures simultaneously and juxtaposed into a single photo.
The phone will be available in two colors — in gloss black and matte white. Initially, this is going to be sold for Chinese market on October 24 while there there is no word yet for other territories. The 4GB variant is going to cost around $377 while the 6GB model is going to set you back $407— but of course, the final price is going to be different, depending on the market.
