Samsung S23 FE Updated with AI Smarts in ONE UI 6.1, but a Feature Is Missing
I’ve been using the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, which I bought late in 2023. So far, the experience on this phone is quite good for its price, though not perfect. It is a flagship on a budget, the main reason I bought it- the internals are a blend of older parts from aging flagship devices of the past. I think this device is quite good for my daily use I don’t feel the lack of power and functionality. But with the latest update, more nice things are in store with the device.
Finally, the One UI 6.1 update has arrived, promising to enhance my device with Galaxy AI features among other improvements. This update has the potential to make my trusty S23 FE even more versatile and powerful.
Overview of Samsung S23 FE Specs:
Priced at $599, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE has been my trusted companion for productivity and entertainment. Its sturdy build, coupled with productivity features and impressive power, have made it a reliable choice in the S23 lineup. Despite its slightly older processor, the S23 FE offers exceptional value and functionality.
My Favorite Features of One UI 6.1 so Far:
Among the plethora of new features introduced in the One UI 6.1 update, there are a few that have become my favorites. While features like Generative photo editing offer advanced capabilities, I find myself gravitating towards the practicality of Circle to Search and Browsing Assist.
Circle to Search:
One feature that has quickly become indispensable to me is Circle to Search. This feature, originally introduced on the Galaxy S24, allows users to automatically search for details about an image or text by simply drawing a circular gesture with your finger. Whether I’m browsing the web or scrolling through social media, Circle to Search is such a handy way to find information, making it more seamless and intuitive process.
Browsing Assist:
Another feature that has significantly improved my browsing experience is Browsing Assist. As someone who often finds themselves sifting through long online articles and webpages, Browsing Assist has been a a good help. By summarizing lengthy content and highlighting key points, Browsing Assist streamlines my reading experience, allowing me to grasp the essence of an article quickly.
Although my S23 FE may not receive Instant Slow-mo due to hardware limitations, I understand and appreciate Samsung’s commitment to delivering features that prioritize performance and usability. Despite this minor setback, my S23 FE remains a reliable companion, exceeding my expectations with its impressive specifications and competitive pricing.
Missing Samsung AI Feature
My Galaxy S23 FE, along with other past and present flagships like the Samsung S21 and S22 series, has probably gotten the One UI Update with Galaxy AI features. However, due to hardware limitations—specifically, my S23 FE runs on the two-year-old Exynos 2200 processor—the Instant Slow-mo feature won’t be available on my device. While it’s not a dealbreaker, having the feature would’ve been a nice addition.
The Instant Slow-mo feature utilizes on-device AI to create smooth video motion by interpolating frames, improving the viewing experience for users. Activation is simple: press and hold the screen while watching a video in the gallery or video player. This enables closer examination of fast actions like sports or observing the playful movements of your pet.
