Nokia 8.1, the successor to Nokia 7 Plus is official
Among the best if not the best mid-range offering of 2018 is the Nokia 7 Plus. Hot on its heels, the Nokia 8.1– which HMD finally introduced will try to take the mantle going forward. This is the global version of Nokia X7 which was announced for the Chinese market last October.
The Nokia 8.1 retains the built quality, which is an aluminum and glass with two tone finish for its frame and camera. The phone is reinforced by series 6000 aluminum so it will be as tough as it predecessor. The color combination are Blue/Silver, Steel/Copper and Iron/Steel.
Meanwhile, there are improvements under the hood. The Nokia 8.1 is powered by Snapdragon 710 with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.
In terms of the screen, it shares the same technology with the more recent Nokia 7.1, which is a good thing. The 6.2”, 1080p display comes with Nokia’s PureDisplay tech. You can also view HDR10 videos and even convert standard content to upscale it more vivid HDR.
There is dual camera set-up at the rear– a 12MP and 13MP shooter. The main camera employs the 12MP (f/1.8 aperture) module which utilize a Zeiss optics and an optically stabilized for less blurry shots even in low-light. The 13MP shooter is used to capture depth or Bokeh effect. Meanwhile, selfie camera has a 20MP. A feature called Bothie allows you to take pictures both front and back at the same is also here.
The Nokia 8.1 will be running Android Pie out of the box and will be available on December 15 at around €399 in Europe and Asia.
