Nokia 2 is official: A budget Android phone with long stamina
HMD, the current caretaker of the Nokia brand, has just recently introduced a budget phone that touts itself for having outstanding battery life. Since this is going to be an affordable entry-level device, its inexpensive footprints are undeniable. First off, a modestly powered Snapdragon 212 will do the heavy lifting, which is not exactly a bad thing in terms of power efficiency as it lends itself well for above average standby time.
In order to become a battery champ, a high capacity 4,100mAh battery helps to achieve a two days of use– if you subject it to a 5 hour a day on screen time. In addition the 5 inch display with 720×1280 HD resolution is as average as it gets but considerably less power hungry.
Meanwhile, 8 GB in built storage is easily frowned upon these days because that easily spells trouble to any app-loving smartphone users out there. At least there is expandable MicroSD card slot to compensate for limited storage. Another cost cutting measure implemented is the measly memory which is just 1GB of RAM so multitasking is a tricky proposition, oh well.
To its credit, the Nokia 2 is going to be running on Android 7.1 Nougat as intended by Google– with less bloatware and light on manufacturer’s own UX overlay. Using stock software also allows to roll out timely update which Nokia promises for the said entry level device. Another highlight of the Nokia 2 is Google Assistant feature out-of-the-box which is first for such a budget device.
HMD said the Nokia 2 will arrive in mid-November and priced at €99. It is available in different colors such as Copper Black, Pewter Black, and Pewter White.
