Since taking the Nokia brand under their wings, HMD Global has made a solid effort releasing a slew of Android phones. This 2018, a batch of mid-range phones, that some are now available in the market shows potential to become a hit for the reemerging phone company. Though they are not breaking any major grounds by having the most state-of-the art specs, HMD has some compelling mid-range devices that are almost near flagship in quality like the Nokia 7 Plus. What sets Nokia apart from other OEM is the bloat free Android One program in every of their mid-range phones. That only means no heavily customized overlay on top of Android that most of the time slows down user experience. Updates and security patches roll outs is promised regularly and another reason why these pure Android devices are going to stand-out from the rest. But without further ado, let us take a look at what the Nokia’s budget segment are all about.
Nokia 7.1
If there is a mid-range phone that showcase vintage Nokia’s attention to detail, it is the Nokia 7.1. The phone looks every bit as premium as any flagship out there but none of that hefty price tag. It has an aluminum two-tone chamfered frame that is sandwhiched by glass front and rear. But what the Nokia 7.1 offers to the price segment is not just skin-deep. Nokia 7 Plus
Nokia 7 Plus is mid-range offering that can pique interest of those looking for premium looking device without the flagship price. The 6-inch LCD display is on a big size but the modern tall aspect ratio makes it a bit ergonomic to hold. Running the show is capable Octa-Core CPU with Snapdragon 660 chipset while the 4GB of RAM makes sure that running multiple apps wont bogged down the experience. The specs are pretty decent so much so that adding a pure Android on top of it will only bring a smooth, less cluttered operation without the overstuffed overlays of other manufacturer. The camera is no slouch either with with dual camera placement (12MP and 13MP) and a selfie shooter that can take 16MP portrait.

Nokia 6.1
A follow up to last year’s offering, the Nokia 6.1 is definitely an upgrade from its predecessor in terms of features. At a glance, you will notice that it still has the legacy 16:9 aspect ratio which means it is going to be wider than the tall convention of modern phones. The display panel is 5.5 inches, IPS, and a full HD resolution. The fingerprint sensor moved to the back and the bezels are thinner this time around. Under the hood, the device is powered by a Snapdragon 630 chipset and either a 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM.

Nokia 6.1 Plus
HMD’s first foray into the notch territory is the Nokia 6.1 Plus (Known as Nokia X6 when it was launched in China) which is slated for an international release. The 5.8 inch phone has 19:9 ratio aspect with a small bezel and a glass construction, which all-in-all gives it a sleek, premium look. There is a Snapdragon 636 chipset paired with 4GB or 6 GB RAM which is very decent for its class. The phone is equipped with dual camera on the rear to capture subjects with bokeh effect while the front camera has a 16 MP resolution.

Nokia 5.1
The Nokia 5.1 is all about premium look without having to break the bank, and some nifty features to boot for the price. The 5.5 inch device has a Full HD display with contemporary 18:9 ratio. This time around HMD equipped the phone with MediaTek Helio P18 chipset. The chassis is made out of 6000 aluminium body for the premium feel and is available in different colors. Since this is still considered a mid-range device albeit in the budget category, the RAM is just 2 GB or 3 GB with storage at 16 GB or 32 GB, depending on the configuration. The price is around 200 EUR for this Android One powered device.

Nokia 5.1 Plus
Just like the Nokia 6.1 Plus, its more affordable sibling, the Nokia 5.1 Plus is HMD’s offering that comes with a trendy notch at the top. It also sports a premium looking glass body with tall aspect ratio but this time around, Nokia would rather use an HD+ panel in order to cut cost. Overall, the phone has a lot of potential to be a capable in terms of performance with Mediatek Helio P60 powering the device. It comes with a dual camera (13MP and 5MP) for its rear and 8 MP selfie shooter.

The cheapest Android One by HMD device which means it will be getting the latest the latest software and security updates up to two years. That kind of support is pretty much unheard of on this low-cost segment for an Android device. Since this is the lower midrange device, you wont find fingerprint scanner, dual cameras and facial recognition here. but there are a lot going for the Nokia 3.1. The 5.2 inch phone is constructed using aluminum frame to avoid looking completely cheap which the plastic back may suggest. It is powered by Mediatek MT6750 with 2GB or 3GB of RAM onboard. The main camera is 13 MP shooter while the front has 8 MP resolution.
