Samsung introduced its first notched phones, the Galaxy M20 and M10
Samsung, the last bastion of phones with symmetrical top bezel, finally cave in to the lure of ‘the notch’. With the announcement of M20 and M10 series, it heralds something new for the phone-maker. Indeed, it marks its first foray in the notch-y territory. But there is something more to it than controversial design. It is also a crucial part of Samsung strategy moving forward. As we may all know, the onslaught of Chinese manufacturer started to chip away the Korean’s market share in this competitive price segment. With rock bottom pricingof the M20 and M10, it aims to rally and fend off advances from competition.
Waterdrop Notch
The India bound Galaxy M20 and M10 (which could also land in other emerging markets) are Samsung’s first mid-range devices of the year. The M20 is the more souped-up of the duo has the edge in screen size, performance and battery life. Both have aggresive pricing but the M10 is even more affordable.
As mentioned, there is a little notch at the top that resembles a water drop. Samsung dubbed it as “Infinity V” display that managed to cram in the front camera into that tiny hole alongside the earpiece that resides above it. The result is something that is not unjustifiably huge that it stares back at you but it is definitely still there. The minimal blot on the top of the screen gives way to even more screen real estate that dominated the entire facade of the the phone.
Samsung Galaxy M20 vs Galaxy M10, what’s the difference?
The Samsung Galaxy M20 is quite obvious that it is going to be the better choice between the two. It comes with a bit larger screen display of 6.3 inches with IPS, Full HD+ resolution. Meanwhile, the Galaxy M10 has 6.22 inch screen and less pixel dense screen with only 720P, HD+ resolution .

It is also available in variants with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM. As for the M10, it will be the Exynos 7870 @ 1.6GHz that will flex its muscles and with will paired with a choice of 2GB or 3GB of RAM.

The beefier M20 comes with 5000mAh battery with a fast charging capability and the 15W type-C charger is a stock accessory and included in the box. Meanwhile the cheaper M10 is equipped with 3400mAh and with lower resolution, it is going to be not too shabby in the battery department either.
Something that will be missing out on the Galaxy M10 is the fingerprint scanner. Instead, it will rely on face unlock for biometrics. Meanwhile the M20 will have a fingerprint sensor at the back. This time around, the placement of the cameras at the side is more convenient, rather than having too close with the fingerprint sensor.
