LG Q6 series are official: A trio of mid-range phones with 2:1 aspect ratio
The LG G6 is the first to have elongated aspect ratio and pretty much introduced to the world how great the ergonomics of having a big screened phone that allows to reach the corner letters as you type. Now, the Korean company took the wraps of their mid-range offering, the LG Q6 which is essentially a slightly smaller version of the G6 that is aimed for the masses.
The LG Q6 will come in a three different variant and the main selling point is its ‘FullVision Display’ on a competitively priced devices. In the past, LG has a habit of releasing a mini-me version of their flagship while adopting the naming convention of their superior sibling. But this time around, LG seems to forgo that naming scheme (which started with the absence of an LG G5 mini) in favor of differentiating their middle of the road phone with the introduction of the ‘Q’ series. As mentioned, the LG Q6 will come in different configuration based on storage/memory but all shares the same aspect ratio and a durable metal frame.
At first glance, the LG Q6 variant looks identical with the same design language, 18:9 aspect ratio, 5.5 inch screen size and a 1080p display. What set each model apart from each other is the storage and memory on-board which is as follows:
- LG Q6+ – 64GB storage with 4GB RAM
- LG Q6 – 32GB storage with 3GB RAM
- LG Q6a – 16GB storage with 2GB RAM
In terms of chipset, the LG Q6 will utilize a Snapdragon 435 with octa-core CPU. As for the camera, LG boasts that there will be no visible ‘humps’ at the back of its 13MP main shooter while its 5MP selfie camera is capable of taking wide-angle shots. There seems to be no fingerprint sensor present based on render but a facial recognition will be available for unlocking the device.
LG Q6 is expected to released sometime in August for the Asian market while the rest of the world will follow suit. As for the price, it is not yet announced at the moment but LG states that they are going to target a more competitive pricing. It will come in Astro Black, Marine Blue and Ice Platinum colors.
