LG to announce V30 on August 31 event, expected to come with OLED display
Hot on the heels of generally positively reviewed LG G6, comes what looks like a follow up to last year’s V20 based on LG’s official teaser. The G6 introduced to the world how awesome 2:1 aspect ratio combined with thin bezels can be and makes everything before it looks a bit dated.
LG has sent an invite to media with regard to the official unveiling of their premium “V” series, which is probably the LG V30. It is too obvious that the centerpiece of the phone will be its tall aspect ratio as shown on the teaser image, just the the G6 before it. Its predecessors are known for their second screen that act as ticker for notification and shortcut. Aside from the screen, the series is also popular for its study built to withstand impact of daily wear and tear.
Based on rumor, the successor to the V20– which is more likely called the V30– is going to lose its secondary screen which happens to be the well known feature of the series. But if we are going to speculate, again based solely on the render on the invite, the bottom of the screen looks like a secondary notification area– since that tall screen should make enough room for such.
Another leak suggests that LG will likely to use an OLED panel this time around for the rumored 6.2 inch display of the V30. That could also be the reason why LG decided to ditched the iconic secondary display of its predecessor.
The official unveiling of the device will is on August 31 based on the invite, which will coincide with the opening of IFA in Berlin, Germany though it will be a day earlier.
