Is Lazada Philippines Legit Shopping Site?
Online shopping sites are still relatively new in the country. They are convenient way to shop at home while in your pajamas – but certainly it has its drawbacks and pitfalls. Lazada Philippines is among those online company that caters to local shoppers with just a click of a button. Established in 2012, Lazada saw a tremendous growth over the years yet still, South East Asian countries are just beginning to warm up to the convenience of shopping online. Being a nascent business model in the country, there are a lot of growing pains both the company and the costumer have to endure.
Maybe you are an online shopping newby and still searching for info whether Lazada is legit or scam. My personal shopping experience has been relatively positive thus far and enough to warrant an occasional return – provided the deal is much better compared to physical store. But whether the same is true for others, I can’t vouch for their experience. But I must say online shopping sites like Lazada and even other shopping sites like eBay or Amazon has its advantage but there are also a caveats- definitely not for the impatient since you can’t get instant gratification with days of waiting time– unlike real time satisfaction you get from getting a new pair of sneakers from a brick and mortar store.
Gizmango Poll: How do you rate your shopping experience at Lazada Philippines
The Good
- Convenient way to buy stuff online.
- The lure of sales and discount vouchers- sometimes, the price of product is comparatively lower than malls. There are also shopping exclusives such as phones where you can’t get anywhere else.
- Buyer Protection – you can return wrong or faulty item within 7 days- or up to 14 days if there is “satisfaction guaranteed” tag. Just make sure the item is as good as the moment it came out of the box– in an unused and unblemished condition. Then send it straight to LBC for a trip back to warehouse for free. Usually, the rep will contact you either through call or email once they get the returned goods. If you decide to make a refund instead of changing the item, it may take a week to complete either as a voucher, bank deposit or LBC cash.
- Bunch of payment options such as credit card, Paypal or CODj is available. But I do prefer Cash on delivery since I find ‘kaliwaan ng bayad’ a more practical approach and safer too than giving your raw credit card information.
The Bad
- Shipping the wrong product/missing parts – Getting the wrong product seems to be all too common as I personally received a wrong or not-as-described item before. The last incident was a pink hairbrush that I received which is definitely not the one I ordered – for a man that has less use of it nowadays and that color, that’s quite hilarious (not).
- Delivery time sometimes may take longer than you’d like– you are just less than an hour away from the capital, but sometimes it takes too long to arrive in my grubby hands. Maybe it is a logistic problem, their system in disarray or third party seller didn’t respond quickly when Lazada ping them for orders. But patience is always a virtue when it comes to online shopping.
- Item didn’t arrive at all – I never experienced it yet (knock on wood) but apparently, others were not as lucky.
Needs Improvement
- Needs to improve customer service- prompt response to queries and less waiting time when calling the hotline
- Better feedback system, which can also influence buying decision by verified buyer’s personal input upon using the product
- Easier way to check sellers rating and reputation
- Faster and more efficient delivery of orders, but then again, hopefully the country’s infrastructure will also be more conducive to this emerging online shopping trend.
Conclusion
Getting investment from venture capitalist is a good sign that Lazada and other online shops are just starting to see their potential as a viable way to buy our goods. There are indeed a lot of room for improvement and hopefully it also means better services down the road by delivering a satisfying services to their growing customers in the country.
