LG V20 is officially unveiled: Wide Angle Dual Lens, Shock Resistance, Second Screen
A 2016 flagship with removable battery, say what?
Ok, having a user-replaceable battery found on the new LG V20 is no big deal these day, or is it. But there is more to like about LG’s new behemoth. When compared to its predecessor, there are notable improvement across the board. First off, the design is now in line with the G5, which is housed in a metal shell. It may look like a uni-body chassis but battery can be swapped for a fresh one which most vendors are veering away lately. It is not rugged like LG V10, but is still one tough phone with military grade shock resistance.
Dual camera is now a common feature of LG’s high-end but improvement here that there is now a slew of focusing system in place. The main camera set-up includes a 16MP paired with a secondary 8MP relegated for 135-degree wide-angle shots. This time there is a single front-camera, unlike its predecessors dual set-up. But it is also capable of taking wide-angle selfies and uses the screen as a flash.
Taking video has seen an improvement as well with the inclusion of Steady Record 2.0. It uses a video stabilization using gyroscope by Qualcomm which is a first. It also less prone to distorted footage which is common to a wide angle shooters.
The second screen up top the main display for notification and shortcuts also get a bit of an update. It is now slightly longer due to the absence of second front camera. Brightness has also improved which is now double that of V10 at 68 nits. Still, the same purpose as displaying the time, shortcuts, notifications and even your name.
The phablet is powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor and a 4GB of RAM. The internal storage is 64GB which is ample enough for most but can be expanded up to 2TB using a microSD. See spec sheets below for more info about the LG V20.
