Yes, you can make your LG V20 waterproof
Water is not your friend but there is a workaround
The LG V20 is a monster of a phone in which it has all the bells and whistles of a flagship except for one missing key feature— it is not water resistant. Therefore, it is not merely prudent to avoid dunking it in the water because you are not supposed to do it either.
Thus, for a phone that is being marketed for its ruggedness, it seems counterintuitive not to have water proofing. Yep, it is a phone for those with active lifestyle with its military grade impact resistance. It is also phone for butterfingers— accidental drops on a brick patio or pavement is not exactly going to be its last. But unfortunately that is not always the case. Because accident prone klutz who uses their V20 in the toilet is just tempting fate.
But for those who picked the LG V20 but wished there is some water protection, all is not lost.
There are water resistant cases for that
The maker of this case (Tomplus, on Amazon) is quite explicit in pointing out what it can and can’t do. You are not to swim with this case on because this is not a waterproof solution. What it is is a tank-like protection that offers a minimal water resistance. It shields against rain and seals itself against dust and dirt. A quick, instantaneous dip during accidental tumble in the water should make survival higher. Soaking it in water though is not recommended as liquid may start to seep in and do further damage.
Installation is not going to be the easiest because there are screws to bolt the layers together. There is also silica gel seal and gasket which helps it to resist water. Meanwhile, the facade is protected by a tempered glass screen. The drawback of this case is you have to contend with extra thickness in your pocket.

Or use a waterproof pouch that is actually IPX8 Certified
Your best bet to take your V20 for swimming and capture underwater selfies. It is indeed an IPX8 rate means you can take or submerge it in water for prolong period of time without having to worry about damage.
The pouch can handle up to 6 inch in diameter of devices provided there is no case. Front and back is clear so you can insert the phone either way. Made for all season and different purposes, it can be worn in your neck via a strap. It is also inexpensive way to defend your phone against water, either it is immersed unintentionally or otherwise.

Your V20 is not supposed to skinny dip in water. But if it happens here’s a tip:
Since water damage is not covered by warranty, it is logical to avoid water getting to your phone at all cost. If it gets soaking wet, chances are you can still revive it if you act fast enough. First thing to do is to make sure to turn it off to avoid short circuiting the component. Second, since the V20 is among the few flagship that still has removable battery, make sure to promptly take it out of the device.
The next step is to dry the wet phone but make sure not to use heat such as blow driers and direct sunlight. They could wreck the innards of your phone and may possibly melt adhesives. You can blow the water out or use a can of compressed air to flush out more liquid. (note: if it is submerged in saltwater, don’t let it dry out as it can corrode the inside. Quickly rinse it in freshwater to remove the salt) Lastly, you can remove excess moisture by burying it in a bowl of rice or grains overnight.
