Confirmed: Sony Xperia Z3+ is running hot!
Even before Snapdragon 810-powered devices were announced, there were already speculations circulating that Qualcomm’s high-end mobile processor was plagued by heat problems. It seems the controversy is not letting up, with Sony recently admitting that its latest flagship phone is encountering some thermal issues when using resource-intensive apps or streaming high-definition videos. Some owners have claimed that the device can become uncomfortably hot while running demanding apps and may force-close after an excessive heat alert.
The Xperia Z3+ , along with the earlier released Japanese version, and the Z4 are essentially identical devices. Both are embedded with the same Snapdragon 810 chipset which has become a subject of controversy from the get-go when Samsung decided to ditch the SoC in favor of in-house Exynos chips for their Galaxy S6 flagship- apparently due to an overheating issue.
For a workaround, Sony recommends rebooting the device several times daily as a temporary fix to the feverish setback that Z3+ and Z4 owners are experiencing. According to Sony, an update to resolve the issue will be ready in summer (US), and many predicted the software fix will involve dialing down the clock speed of the CPU / GPU which could result in a much cooler operation but at the expense of overall performance.

Update: Below is a video demonstrating how easy it is to overheat the phone just by fiddling with the built-in camera functionality. The camera turns itself off once the Z3+ starts to record video to protect itself from the surging internal temperature.
Update 2: Looks like a fix is on the way in the form of a software update. Based on the report, the software fix which already started to roll out on compatible devices in India at least, is expected to address the overheating issue- probably by throttling the speed of CPU and GPU.
