Sony outs the Xperia L1: An attractive 5.5 inch mid-ranger for the masses
Sony unveiled via official website their latest mid-range phone that should entice enthusiasts and newcomers alike with its attractive design and apparent affordability. We all know that bezel or lack thereof constitutes the description of how phone’s attractiveness is gauged nowadays (because thinness is so 2015) and the Xperia L1 2017 has what it takes to have that distinction. Though price is not yet announced, but according to Sony it is going to be affordable. However, we have to wait and see if pricing is indeed competitive – if priced higher than what competition has to offer is going to be deal breaker for many which Sony has a history of.
The Xperia L1 comes with a large 5.5 inch panel and a 720p resolution ( 267 ppi pixel density) is going to be frowned upon by pixel peepers out there. Having a small bezel with a rounded sides for a big phone is its redeeming quality which should make it comfortable to hold.
The internal component is not going to blow your socks off as well. The Xperia L1 is going to be powered by a Quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU with a Mediatek MT6737T chipset. There is a 16GB in-built memory a 2GB RAM which puts it in a lower mid-range category. As for the cameras, there’s a 13MP primary shooter with f/2.2 aperture while situated on the front is a 5MP for selfies. There is a dedicated shutter button that do come in handy when taking a photo.
The Xperia L1 will be released some time in April initially in selected countries. As mentioned, pricing is yet to be determined. You can get the device in different colors such as black, white and pink. It comes with Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box.
