Top 5 LG G7 ThinQ stand-out features
The LG G7 ThinQ may look just about every other flagship nowadays with familiar design and a tall rather than wide aspect ratio — and it has that controversial notch. Though the exterior doesn’t elicit that much excitement, but dig a bit deeper to its feature set and there are some quite nifty upgrades that will make the G7 a good premium phone. Here are some of them:
Bright display
The LG G7 ThinQ is dominated by a tall, slim screen and a minimal bezel. On the surface, it is pretty much in-line with what the rest of the its competitors are churning out lately in terms of design. While its contemporaries, the iPhone X and the Samsung Galaxy S9 utilized a Super AMOLED panel, the G7 has a trick up its sleeve. The phone can actually crank up the brightness of up to 1,000 nits when viewed outdoors which gives the G7 a super readable screen even under direct sunlight.
A Loud ‘Boombox Speaker’
The G7 has a down firing speaker which unfortunately is not stereo, unlike most of the flagships today. But what it lacks in immersive dual speakers, it makes up for its above average loudness by utilizing compartments of the phone for its so-called boom box speaker. The result is a much powerful sound emanating from a such a slim device. Those who consumes media on their phone will appreciate (or annoy anyone seated beside you) with its super loud sound output for its class.
Camera Enhancements
It looks like, at least on paper, LG has a slew of impressive camera upgrades. To begin with, the G7 ThinQ shooter comes with AI enhancements that is able to recognize different conditions and adjusts automatically to pick the right setting such as ramping up saturation when it detects food. The main camera is now a dual 16 MP cameras found on the back. The Korean company also stick to its wide angle camera formula for its secondary camera, but this time around the field of view is a tad narrower at 107 degree, but with less distortion that plagued its predecessor. The other rear camera sensor has f/1.6 aperture with IOS and should be capable of taking brighter low light pictures.
AI takes the spotlight
AI also takes the front and center with the G7 with the help of Google Assistant. First off, it has a dedicated physical button that you can press in order to launch Assistant. Samsung Galaxy also implement the same with Bixby for their S8 and S9 phones but it is still half-baked and many think that it is not there yet for the mainstream. Meanwhile, there are voice commands specifically tailored for the G7 through Assistant like turning up the brightness and turning battery saver on without having to dig into settings. Also impressive is the “Super far field voice recognition” feature that increases the range it can hear “OK Google” command which is as far 16 feet from the phone.
Notch you see it, now you don’t
LG also embrace the notch with the G7— it maybe a trend right now but it is also polarizing one. If you don’t mind having that ‘ears’ display feature, then you’ll be at home with the G7 ThinQ, otherwise you can hide it or choose from the presets to personalize it enough not to be bothered by its existence.
