Spigen Liquid Air for Galaxy A6 2018 Review
Phones these days are all about having a big glass screen with minimal bezels as possible. That doesn’t bode well when it comes to durability – and it is the reason why using a case or any sort of protection is mandatory or otherwise risk damages from a single unfortunate drop down the road. With cases, it is given that you will add a little bulk to your phone which is the reason other despise having it.
Spigen has a wide array of cases for many phones and among the most reputable brands out there. The offering I found for the Galaxy A6 2018 from the company is their Liquid Air series. It is a good middle ground when it comes to confident protection without the excessive bulk of many so-called Armor cases. Perhaps the chamfered edges also helps the illusion that it look thinner than it actually is. Tell tale sign it is indeed a robust case is how well recessed the camera is at the back which suggests that it is not a thin and flimsy material at all.
The rear has a matte finish and dominated by a triangular geometric pattern that gives it a nice texture and also prevents from attracting smudges.
Installing it is quite easy and there is no struggle at all — just simply slide your phone inside the flexible yet snugly fit case. What I also really like once the case is installed is that it is very solid to hold and it feels like it is part of the phone because it is very rigid— there is no flex or give whatsoever considering it is made from flexible TPU material.
Another advantage of having this case is that it makes it a bit easy to locate the fingerprint reader, in which I am not a fan of its placement on the A6. As you can see, it is too near to the camera and can be prone to smudges by unknowingly touching it. The camera opening of the Spigen Liquid Air case is quite handy because it guides your index finger toward the scanner and a tactile point of reference when you access it.
What I also liked about Spigen is that most of their series maintains a tactile feel to the button which is no different here with their Liquid Air case. My main gripe about cheap cases is how difficult to press the button more often than not. Here, the volume button is very easy to press and maintains a very pleasant, clicky feel to it. They achieved this by making a small cutouts at the side of the buttons. Those buttons are slightly protruding which make it convenient to locate even on the front.
There are precise cutouts for the speaker, USB port, headphone jack and camera. They wont give you obsessive compulsive fit because they are perfectly placed on each openings. I also like the generous size of cut-outs of the ports. It didn’t give me issue about fitting my other wider headset jack, therefore no need to take the Galaxy A6 off its case.
To wrap it up
I really liked the look and feel of the Spigen Liquid Air for the Galaxy A6 2018. However, if there is one aspect of the case that could have been better is that it is not that grippy at all. It doesn’t have the traction nor non-slip feature that prevents your phone from easily gliding out of your hands. There is that nagging feeling that the phone might spring out of your clutches due to its smooth surface though it has a matte finish. But regardless, this is a great protective case that doesn’t feel too bulky and easily makes for a robust yet slim protection that confidently secure your phone against drop and scratches.
