Samsung Galaxy A70, so what’s the difference?
With the way Samsung phones spam their way into the market, it is hard to be in the loop regarding their latest and greatest for us mere mortals. Particularly for their mid-range devices, Samsung’s strategy is keeping its customers feeling buyer’s remorse immediately because once they buy the newest device– another or even better model is just around the corner in just a short period of time. That said, hot on the heels of galaxy A30 and A50 which were announced just a few weeks back, comes the latest upper mid-range device, the A70.
You can say that the Galaxy A70 is a step-up model of A50 in which both have the same teardrop notch, an in-display fingerprint scanner, a plastic back, Super AMOLED display and a triple camera set-up as well. The internals however have more oomph on the A70.
So far, Samsung is keeping the full details to itself, however they already released the partial specs of the Galaxy A70. We will all know the full details of the phone which will be disclosed at an even on April 10th.
Huge 6.7 inch screen, and has a really tall 20:9 aspect ratio
The 6.7″ display is obviously big. In fact it is the largest of the 2019 A series. But the name of the game here is to create a bigger, taller yet less wider display, essentially a narrow and longer form factor for ease of use. It has a Full HD with 1,080 x 2,400 resolution, almost identical to the Galaxy A50 but at this size, the pixel density takes a hit with 393 ppi.
Super AMOLED screen, “Infinity U” notch, Plastic rear, In-screen fingerprint reader
As mentioned, the panel will utilize a Super AMOLED display therefore it is given that colors are punchier and blacks are deep. There is also a small notch cutout on top of the screen that houses the front camera. Instead of putting an aluminum or glass for its back, Samsung employs a glossy plastic that it call “glasstic”. To be honest, it still looks like plastic to me judging by the same material on the A50’s back. Somehow you will miss the cold feel of metal back which Samsung typically used on their mid-rangers. However, it will be obligatory wrapped in a case anyway and you wont see the difference along with the smudges it attracts. On the other hand, the fingerprint scanner tech embedded on the screen is still unknown. It could either an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor like on the Galaxy S10 or the optical one found on the A50, but our bet is on the latter.
Triple main camera with 32 MP selfie camera
The Samsung Galaxy A70 rocks a triple camera set-up on the back. It is composed of a 32 MP, f/1.7 as it main shooter, an 8 MP ultrawide camera and a 5 MP depth sensor for blur background effect. On the front is an unprecedented 32 MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture which is bigger than the 25 MP found on the Galaxy A50.
25 Watt Fast Charging, 4,500 mAh battery, Octa-core processor, 128 GB Storage
Another first to grace the A70 is the fast charging capability. For comparison the Galaxy s10+ and the A50 has only 15W fast charging. Pair that with a large 4,500 mAh capacity and you’ll get a stamina champ that top-up in no time. Meanwhile, there is an unknown Octa-core processor that will do the heavy lifting and a generous 128 GB RAM allots plenty of spaces for your photos and videos. Depending on territory, there is either 6/8 GB of RAM that will be available.
There is no word yet about pricing yet while the complete spec sheet of the device is set to be unveiled on April 10 at “A Galaxy Event”.
