LG Magna (H502f) Unboxing and First Impression Review
The LG Magna is among the recently introduced devices by the Korean company. The mid-range device boasts a non-obtrusive curve display that is subtle enough not to be bothered by it if you are not a fan of the design language. Below is the unboxing and initial impression of the dual sim variant of the LG Magna.
Inside the small sales packaging includes the LG Magna, headset, USB cable, power adapter, and some booklets.
This is a 5-inch phone, the same as last year’s G3 Beat/S. They may be a spin-off of a bigger flagship phone but they are not exactly a ‘mini’ phone by any stretch of the imagination. At this size, it is quite borderline unwieldy because your finger must be limber enough to reach across the edge of the notification bar. There are at least features to make the one-handed operation possible like a smaller keyboard and soft key button for drop-down notification.
The subtle hunchback design of the rear feels nice to hold as the gentle curve sits well in the hand. The slightly sharp corner digs into the palm though.
The curve display is not just a gimmicky feature. You can lay the phone face down on a perfectly flat surface without the display making contact with the area, as the gap in the curvature protects the screen from getting scratched. In addition, the curved design doesn’t muffle the speaker while the phone is on a flat table.
It has the signature LG rear button placement while the back cover has a nice-looking faux-brushed metal design that in reality is actually made of plastic.
The HD screen of Magna is really nice with good color reproduction and excellent viewing angles. Sunlight legibility is not a problem as well and the ambient light sensor cranks up the brightness automatically whenever the sun inundates the screen.
Under a favorable lighting conditions, the LG Magna can produce a decent picture with plenty of details. Unfortunately, in a dim-lit room, is where the camera struggles with noisy pictures.
All in all, having spent just a few days with the phone, it is clear that there are so many things to like about the LG Magna. It has a decent screen, acceptable camera (under favorable lighting conditions), and is snappy enough for non-intensive app usage.
