LG G7 One: Almost-flagship Android One phone
LG just recently introduced two new devices at IFA 2018 carrying the moniker of its high-end G7. The phones that were unveiled in the said event are LG G7 One and the LG G7 Fit. But definitely a stand out between the two devices is the one the will get regular security updates and guaranteed latest OS support from Google for at least two years. We are talking about the LG G7 One, which is under Android One program, a bloatware free and a snappy pure Android experience.
Google’s Android One program has come a long way since it was introduced in 2014. In essence, it is the search giant’s commitment for secure and unadulterated Android experience. Back then, there are only few of entry level devices that runs the Google supported mobile OS and mostly relegated for phones in the emerging market. Currently, there are now outstanding Android One midrangers such at the Nokia 7 Plus and the Xiaomi Mi A2 that punches above their weight.
Aside from Pixel phones, there are no flagship Android phone that is powered by Google-supported stock software. The LG G7 One comes close to being that premium device with all the goodness of running an Android One software. The G7 One is an upper class midrange phone with slightly dated flagship processor but can still left mid-tier processors in the dust when it comes to performance.
The LG G7 comes with an eye-catching 6.1-inch FullVision display that has a high QHD+resolution, a tall 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and at very dense 563 ppi. Meanwhile, the chipset running the show may not be the latest, but the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is definitely no slouch and can lend performance that is as flagship as it gets.
For some reason, LG decided to hold back to make the G7 One on par with its flagship. First off, the rear of the device is just made of plastic which gives it less luxurious feel. Also on the back, there is a noticeable absence of a dual camera so there is no fancy wide angle shots like in the the flaship G7. Fortunately for music lovers, there is a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC for more immersive sound experience. The G7’s boombox sound is also present in the G7 one which able to achieve more louder sound especially when placed on a flat surface.
As of this writing, there is no word yet regarding date of release date, pricing and availability of the LG G7 One.
