1. The traditional way- via the power button on the start menu
Windows 10 marks the return of hybrid yet recognizable start menu- it is a combination of Windows 7 app list with Windows 8 live tiles that is not overbearing to the end users. The conventional power button can be accessed in the start menu, located at the lower-left corner of the screen. From there, clicking it will reveal an options to Sleep, Shut down or Restart the computer.
2. Via the Power User menu- (right-click the Windows Button)
The Power User menu was first introduced in Windows 8.1 and it proves to be quite handy. As with Windows 10, to access this menu, just right-click the Start button to reveal the myriad of Power User options. Just hover to the “Shut down or sign out” menu to bring up choices and from there you can turn off the system.
- For touch-based W10 users, you can access the Power User menu by pressing and holding the Start button.
- There is also a faster keyboard shortcut to turn off Windows 10: Just press WinKey + X, then select U (Shut down or sign out), then press another U (Shut down).
