Motorola Edge (2021) Launches early September in the US -144 Hz screen takes the center stage
As a follow up to its 2020 mid-ranger, the Motorola Edge offers something that can entice newcomers and a bit of a letdown for fans of last year’s design. First off, the original Edge is a descriptive name for its attractive curved edge with bright OLED display. 2021’s version however, ditched that altogether in favor of a flat LCD display. At first glance, the screen of the Motorola Edge 2021 seems like a downgrade when compared to its predecessor. In fact, the highlight of the latest Edge is actually its 6.8-inch display with a super smooth refresh rate of 144Hz.
Early adopter and fans who will buy it at a certain period will get a good deal of a phone. Motorola will slash $200 off for a limited time, which will now comes with introductory price of $500 at launch. However, once the initial discounted price is gone, the actual suggested price goes up to $700, which is definitely going to face a stiff competition with the likes of Samsung A52 5G and Google Pixel 5a.This is a top-tier midrange phone with specs that are no slouch when it comes to performance and features. Under the hood, there is a Snapdragon 778G chipset that supports 5G connectivity. Coupled with a high refresh display, it is going to drain a good chunk of power but thankfully, the 5000mAh battery will keep the lights on longer. There is included Turbo Power 30 charger in the box that apparently can quickly fill up the phone’s juice in no time.
On the camera department the rear cameras at the back has a triple lens set-up that is comprised of a 108 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide, and a 2 MP depth sensor. On the front, is a selfie camera 32MP selfie camera that utilize a 4-in-1 pixel binning which should boost its low-light game. The Motorola Edge 2021 comes in Nebula Blue color that actually looks like glass but it is actually made with polymer resin that has iridescent effect and changes hues at an angle. As mentioned, gone is the curved edge to edge display in favor of a flatter panel but still looks contemporary.
The device is slated to be released in the US market on September 2 as unlocked devices. You can purchase the device via online store in the US such Amazon, B&H, Best Buy and official Motorola store with big carriers such as Verizon will follow months later.
