5 Reasons that makes iPhone XR the more compelling device
You can expect from an iPhone event an announcement of the latest and greatest from the world’s most valuable company. Of course, being a newly unveiled Apple product, it unsurprising that they come with a hefty price tag. And so they announced their biggest, most powerful and also their most expensive phones to date— the 5.8-inch iPhone XS and the 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max. Then on the other hand, the iPhone XR seemingly plays a second, er third fiddle and is deemed the more ‘cheaper’ and less feature-packed of the bunch. But the truth is, it might as well have the potential to be a runaway success for Apple even more so than the iPhone XS and XS Max, here’s why:
1. The iPhone XR is cheap(er) though still pricey, but still.
Getting an new and unlocked iPhones can be a hard pill to swallow as paying for a flagship that cost at least $1,000 is the now the norm. The ‘regular’ sized iPhone XS cost $999 for the 64 GB while the iPhone XS Max is $1,099. for the base model. In those regard, it looks like that premium pricing scheme is how things will be for Apple’s flagships moving forward.
Meanwhile, the iPhone XR has a price of $749, not cheap by any stretch of the imagination but more palatable for many consumer who do not want to pay $1,000 for an ‘XS’ iPhone. That said, it won’t be too shocking if the XR sells better than the more expensive XS and XS Max. The fact is, Apple decided to release the less expensive iPhone a bit later to avoid stealing some thunder from their more costly duo — saleswise that is not too far fetched.
2. The iPhone XR has equally fast Processor
The trio of iPhones will be running Apple’s in-house A12 Bionic chipset across the board In which they will be almost identical in terms of performance. That means the humble iPhone XR will be equally as powerful under the hood. The discrepancy though comes in the amount of RAM, which is 3 GB for the XR versus 4 GB for both XS models. That should be no worry though knowing how very efficient iPhones are in managing resources and can still runs smoothly even on much lower memory.
3. The iPhone XR has a great camera though it only has a single rear camera.
It is easy to differentiate the less-costly versus the premium model just by looking at the back. The iPhone XR has only a single camera as its main shooter and doesn’t have the fancy telephoto lens of its two sibling. Google has proven that the single-lens Pixel 2 camera is capable of capturing a convincing bokeh effect by only utilizing AI smarts for its phones. Apple also will also employ algorithm for capturing portrait with blurry background but we have yet to see how it will fare until its release date.
4. The iPhone XR is available in 6 colors
Still waiting for the red color edition iPhone X? That seems unlikely now but fortunately you can also get the iPhone XR in red, which is just one of the 6 colors you can choose from. The other color variants include red, yellow, blue, black, white and coral which make it seem the more expensive iPhone XS and XS Max are comparatively muted now in terms of colors compared to the funky iPhone XR.
5. The iPhone XR has a good stamina
One of the much criticized feature of the iPhone XR is that the lower resolution screen. Though it sounds like it has a cutting edge in LCD technology which the company dubbed it as “Liquid Retina”, it is not up to par when it comes to screen sharpness with only 828 x 1792 resolution and 326 ppi density which is definitely on the lower side. Some may find it hard to justify but the lower resolution screen’s advantage is that it get a boost in the stamina department wherein the XR has the best battery life in all iPhones. It apparently can last up to one hour and 30 minutes longer than the iPhone 8 Plus which has a great battery life to begin with.
