LG Magna and LG Spirit gets an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update
It is always welcome news when a year old or so midrange devices get some love in the form of software update. As we all know, that is not necessary always the case when it comes to budget Android devices. With Marshmallow update of year’s LG Magna and LG Spirt (both comes with Android 5.0.1 Lollipop out of the box), what is (slightly) old feels new again with cosmetic and performance update brought about by a fresher OS.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow on LG Magna Impression: Seems Faster…
We have installed Android 6.0 on LG Magna (H502f model) after we have downloaded a 768MB worth of files to the device. One of the major gripe with the LG Magna is that the performance out of the box with quite sluggish. Android 6.0 somehow addressed some of those issue with noticeable performance improvement. Double-tap-to-wake feels a tad quicker to respond while gallery app open a bit faster now. Of course, there is no getting around that specs and no software update can make it a speed monster but any bit of performance boost is highly appreciated.
Aesthetically, there are noticeable changes in design in the Marshmallow version of LG UX. The revamped stock apps looks better in our opinion than the last and there’s a subtle animation changes as well.
Like any other newly installed OS, there are still bugs to deal with such as non-functioning Bluetooth (at least on our device) but nothing a software patch cannot solve. All in all, glad to see LG is supporting a non-flagship device that has middle of the road specs. Now, we hope to see continuing support to even more legacy flagships such as the still capable LG G2.
